RAILBIRD is an experimental psychedelic pop band native to Saratoga Springs and currently based in Brooklyn, NY. They self-released their debut album No One in March 2011 and released a single Jump Ship this past July which features ANTI- recording artist Sean Rowe and Phantogram‘s Sarah Barthel. Since then they have been gaining some attention on Brooklyn Vegan and Deli Magazine. We were honored to have them open for BRAIDS in September, and we couldn’t be more excited to be hosting their release party for their new EP Lucky upstairs at Valentine’s on Friday, November 30th!
RAILBIRD will be releasing their new EP Lucky on November 27th. “MIRRORs”, the single off of Lucky premiered Monday on MTV Hive. Stream it here.
From MTV Hive:
On “MIRRORS,” from their upcoming Lucky EP, the group repurposes a cell phone glitch as the beat and builds on it with fluttering guitar pangs, double-tracked vocals that are both whispered and chirped, and lush drums. The song’s off-kilter time structure and percussive eruptions is indebted to Dirty Projectors — Pedinotti’s vocals, too, stretch and unfold with a flexibility similar to Amber Coffman’s. But, RAILBIRD’s pop-based improv is just as compelling.
Joining Railbird at Valentine’s are two of our favorite bands, Sun Burdens and Hand Habits. We recently had Sun Burdens open for Young Prisms last week and Hand Habits shared the stage with Railbird when they opened for BRAIDS at Valentine’s in September.
Andrew Franciosa of Keep Albany Boring will be spinning tunes in between sets + Nicole Dellarocca will be playing music off her computer from doors at 8pm until Andrew shows up to the club.
