Young Prisms put out one of my absolute favorite albums this year; In Between, their sophomore release out March 27th 2012 on Kainine Records. In Between is a dreamy shoegaze masterpiece that drew them comparisons to My Bloody Valentine, Mazzy Star, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Listen to it. You can still stream the entire thing over at Noisey and I encourage you to do so (picks: 5, 2, 4, 3, 1, 8) We’re super excited to have them for an intimate set downstairs at Valentine’s; it’s going to be a very magical night.
Careers played one of the most amazing sets at this year’s Restoration Festival. They make lovely music of synths and guitar loops – the band is made of up Meagan Duffy (Hand Habits, Better Pills, many more) and Steve Stanley (former Barons in the Attic).
Sun Burdens is the new project of electronic musician Shane Sanchez, formally of Ghoul Poon. They put out one of our favorite local releases this year — and in my opinion one of the better things to come out of Albany in a very long time.
